For over two years, Cerritos College went through an extensive branding project to unify the campus with one identity as well as increase brand awareness. Sometimes brands have a clear sense of what they're looking for, but might need an extra push to help get their new visual system across the fine line. Cerritos reached a point where they were looking for a refresh on their logo and we were thrilled when they asked us to take the project on.
While Cerritos College did arrive as a new logo design after their initial branding project, they felt that the new look still needed some work. Using the research collected during Cerritos College’s branding phase, we designed a new version of the logo that was modern, unique, and could stand on its own to identify Cerritos College.
Once the new logo was finalized, we worked to further build out the brand by developing a Brand Architecture (applications of the mark to identify Academic Divisions, Campus Departments, Student Support Programs and applications of the mark with existing logos at the college), a color palette of secondary and tertiary colors, and typography for headings and body content for branded collateral.
The final piece of the project was to bring all elements together into a new Communications toolkit for Cerritos college. The Communications Toolkit included the brand position and pitch (Elevator Speech), visual style guidelines, written style guidelines, and examples of real-life applications.
