The Los Angeles Regional Consortium is a consortium of LA’s 19 community colleges working collectively to deliver on a promise that California community colleges are accessible and affordable to develop a brand identity and website to effectively introduce the new consortium to their stakeholders and the region.
Branding & Design
LARC exists to bridge the gap between workforce preparedness and the employers fueling LA’s cutting-edge economy. They proudly serve Los Angeles Country's 19 community colleges — a vast region of 88 incorporated cities, each with its own ethnically rich community. Our goal was to design a visual brand and identity that captures the essence of Los Angeles and communicates LARC's role to open doors and future opportunities for LA's workforce.
Brand Themes: Open doors, Potential, Future, Los Angeles County
Inspired by Los Angelesʼ skyline, the LARC color scheme pulls from the logo markʼs blue and yellow gradient for its secondary accents. Photography was used to prominently feature the city of Los Angeles—and the opportunities it affords students—to create a sense of place and specificity.
Website Design and Development
We completed the front-end and back-end development of the site within WordPress. The site was built responsively optimizing for various devices (desktop, laptop, tablet, mobile). The site was developed based on Section 508 and WCAG 2.0 AA accessibility guidelines.
Mapping K-12 Schools to Community Colleges
A key piece of LARC's work is to collaborate with K-12 partners to align impactful curriculum and workforce training programs, creating a seamless pathway for college and career readiness. We developed a custom map to demonstrate how CTE programs at the region's K-12 level connect to their CTE counterparts at California community colleges.
Launch & Post Launch
After launching the LARC website, we have continued to collaborate with the consortium to help them grow their web presence and continuously capture their new initiatives.
